The Amazingness that was Art + Jazz hosted in the Temple of Dendur (PICS)

160608-1077So, I have to admit I planned the event with the Met so I may be partial. But, it was definitely a fabulous and amazing experience – see the pics!  Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Metropolitan Museum of Art hosted Art + Jazz with nearly 1,000 guests in attendance.  The evening included conversation and performances that explored the relationship between art and jazz with live music by The Gabe Schnider Septet, and a performance by dancer Michela Marino Lerman.  The conversation was followed by a cocktail reception in The Temple of Dendur in The Sackler Wing. Beyoncé Fans, BeyGOOD Support Flint, Inspire Volunteers across North America

Parkwood Entertainment, the entertainment and management company founded by Beyoncé, presented United Way of Genesee County with a generous donation of $82,234. to support residents of Flint, as they continue to feel the impacts of the water crisis. Ivy McGregor, director of philanthropy and corporate relations, presented the check at an event at a high school in Detroit, where United Way for Southeastern Michigan is supporting an innovative high school turnaround initiative.

Beyoncé Gets in Formation with Three Global Charities for World Tour

Beyoncé recently named three charities as global partners for The Formation World Tour. The alignment with the three organizations is designed to show fans how easy it is to give back, be involved in their communities, to be kind and at the core—to BeyGOOD.

United Way will have a presence on every tour stop. It started on the North American leg of the tour which kicked off on Wednesday, April 27 at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida. CHIME FOR CHANGE and Global Citizen will have their online activation program for fans in select tour markets, including Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Detroit and London.  In addition, there are three signature charity events in three cities; Houston, TX, Compton, CA and Detroit, Michigan.

Swing! A Summer Cocktail Party on Mon. June 27

On Monday, June 27, 2016, JALC will host the third annual Swing! A Summer Cocktail Party.  Swing! honors the next generation of jazz artists and is specifically geared toward our culturally diverse young professional audience.  Join us for an evening of cocktails, live jazz and more. Proceeds will support Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Education programs.

15TH ANNUAL ART FOR LIFE RAISES MORE THAN $1.3 MILLION (PICS)

On Saturday, July 26th, Russell Simmons, Danny Simmons and Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation hosted the 15th Annual Art for Life benefit raising more than $1.3 million to date. Held at Fairview Farms in Bridgehampton, NY, Soledad O’Brien emceed the evening that honored Michael R. Bloomberg, Valentino D. Carlotti, Jason Flom, Kimora Lee Simmons and Featured Artist Carrie Mae Weems for their career achievements and philanthropic work.  Guests included Gayle King, Star Jones, Rick Ross, Angela Simmons, Nicky Hilton, DJ Kiss, Kim Porter, Rev. Al Sharpton, Bevy Smith.

The evening was full of big moments one of which included the announcement of a gift from Kimora Lee Simmons.  In addition to the $1.3 million raised, a $1 million gift from Kimora will help provide scholarships for Rush students going to college.
