Beyond the Boroughs 399On Monday, June 13, the Beyond the Boroughs National Scholarship Fund hosted their second Annual Benefit and Awards Dinner at the Dream Downtown hotel honoring Chef Richard Ingraham and Malik Yoba. 100 supporters attended the event to raise money for the scholarship fund. Forbes hosted its fifth annual Forbes 400 Summit on Philanthropy under the theme “Moonshots — Big Bets for Social Change.”  This exclusive brought together 200 of the world’s leading philanthropists, social entrepreneurs and business leaders for a critical discussion on how to apply wealth and resources to solve today’s most intractable problems.  Forbes turned the lens on the audacious thinkers, entrepreneurs, inventors and scholars who are proposing and initiating these radical ideas, creating philanthropic solutions to change our world.  Royal Bank of Canada was a presenting sponsor, and McKinsey & Company was the Knowledge Partner.

Beyoncé Fans, BeyGOOD Support Flint, Inspire Volunteers across North America

Parkwood Entertainment, the entertainment and management company founded by Beyoncé, presented United Way of Genesee County with a generous donation of $82,234. to support residents of Flint, as they continue to feel the impacts of the water crisis. Ivy McGregor, director of philanthropy and corporate relations, presented the check at an event at a high school in Detroit, where United Way for Southeastern Michigan is supporting an innovative high school turnaround initiative.

Raises $165,000 for FACE Africa’s WASH Programs in Sub-Saharan Africa

FACE Africa hosted its 7th Annual WASH, (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Gala on Saturday March 26, 2016 at NeueHouse Madison Square in New York City. The Gala took place on the heels of World Water Day, (March 22nd) and aimed to bring awareness to the growing clean water epidemic in Sub-Saharan Africa. 700 million people globally lack access to safe water supply sources, with 300 million people in Africa alone affected everyday.

United Way Of New York City Hosting Volunteer Event On June 2 To Benefit NYC Kids

 Part of a Nationwide Effort to Strengthen Communities

4United Way has aligned with Beyoncé’s BeyGood initiative to inspire everyone through The Formation World Tour to get involved in building stronger communities. Fans coming together—in activities big and small—make a difference in their communities throughout the course of the tour. Together, we can positively impact the world in…Good Formation!

In New York City, fans and volunteers helped by joining United Way of New York City on June 2 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at their office (205 E. 42nd Street, 13th Floor) to build Reading Kits to support children living in some of New York City’s most-challenged neighborhoods.

Attendees of the volunteer event on June 2 were entered to win door prizes, including a pair of tickets to Beyoncé’s The Formation World Tour at Citi Field for either June 7 or June 8—FOUR (4) pairs available for each date!

Beyoncé fans can also support the United Way of Genesee County’s efforts to support the Flint Water Crisis by donating $10 through Crowdrise. Every $10 donation made to United Way through Crowdrise will help those affected by the water crisis, and gives fans the opportunity to win VIP tickets for The World Formation Tour. Ten randomly selected winners at each of the North American shows will be upgraded to the best seats in the house.

Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD initiative will support local United Way programs and the work of United Way of Genesee County, which is continuing to respond to the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. United Way of Genesee County has been at the forefront of distributing bottled water and filtration systems, as well as providing emergency support services and prevention efforts to those in need. After the short-term needs of Flint residents have been met, United Way of Genesee County will provide the remaining funds to the Flint Child Health and Development Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, which will provide long-term developmental, educational and health support to children and families in the area.

Beyoncé Gets in Formation with Three Global Charities for World Tour

Beyoncé recently named three charities as global partners for The Formation World Tour. The alignment with the three organizations is designed to show fans how easy it is to give back, be involved in their communities, to be kind and at the core—to BeyGOOD.

United Way will have a presence on every tour stop. It started on the North American leg of the tour which kicked off on Wednesday, April 27 at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida. CHIME FOR CHANGE and Global Citizen will have their online activation program for fans in select tour markets, including Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Detroit and London.  In addition, there are three signature charity events in three cities; Houston, TX, Compton, CA and Detroit, Michigan.

MoMA Party in the Garden (PICS)

The Museum of Modern Art hosted its annual Party in the Garden, honoring collection artists Huma Bhabha, Mark Bradford, and Brice Marden, along with philanthropists Amanda and Glenn Fuhrman and Sally and Wynn Kramarsky. In recognition of their prolonged commitment to culture, the arts, and MoMA, this year’s honorees are being celebrated for their artistry and philanthropy.
