The Chris Canty Foundation is hosting the Champions Golf Classic at the Alpine Country Club in Demarest, New Jersey on Monday, May 5. And, he’ll be hosting a Pre-Tournament Party on May 4th at Suite 36 in New York, NY.
All proceeds from the event will go toward programs supported and developed by the Chris Canty Foundation. The foundation exposes students in grades K-12 to educational programs, health and fitness activities, and community service projects.

School Of American Ballet Winter Ball
Evidence, A Dance Company is hosting its inaugural Young Patrons’ Evidence After Dark Party on Monday, March 25th at the Plaza. Young Patrons is a group of young professionals that come together to fundraise for and support Evidence, A Dance Company.
This year, the After Dark Committee will host its inaugural reception during the Torch Ball, Evidence’s annual winter gala. This opportunity for Young Patrons allows you to network with some of NYC’s finest in a cocktail reception followed by the second half of Evidence’s performance of Torch which then goes into dessert and the event’s signature “Dancing with the Dancers.”
It is destined to be a star filled event, with Reggie Van Lee serving as Gala Chair, Spike and Tonya Lee serving as the Gala’s Honorary Co-Chairs and Lynn Whitfield as the MC for the evening.

The Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) held its Vision 2013 Gala honoring actress/singer Vanessa L. Williams on February 26th at the Mandarin Hotel in New York City. The Vision Gala raised $585,000 and the proceeds will benefit the Next Generation Fund and the Community Engagement Fund.
The evening’s honorary chair was Chelsea Clinton, with Valentino D. Carlotti – Goldman, Sachs & Co as Grand Gala Sponsor, HBO CEO Richard Plepler, and his wife Lisa, and Hollywood power couple Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil as co-chairs. WABC-TV’s Sade Baderinwa served as the special guest host.

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards did not disappoint! It was definitely much more subdued than past years – outfit wise, but the stars brought their A-game, hip-high slits, and midriffs. New York Influencers in Politics, Business and Music Unite to Fight Sickle Cell Disease
SIPS for Sickle Cell (SIPS), a nonprofit organization commissioned to raise awareness and support for sickle cell disease, will host a pre-Valentine’s Day gala and silent auction to help impact the lives of children living with the disease.
The red carpet affair, scheduled for Wednesday, February 13 at Lexicon lounge in midtown Manhattan, will unite some of the city’s most notable people and organizations in music, medicine, business, art, politics and food including hosts Sylvia Rhone of Vested In Culture/Sony Music, Gwen Niles of Bad Boy, famed NYC radio’s Ebro Darden, Assemblyman Keith Wright, Councilwoman Inez Dickens, Chef Roble, Black Googlers Network, New York Urban League Young Professionals, Howard University School of Law Alumni Club, Dimensional Sports Inc., New York Super Bowl champion Antonio Pierce of Englewood Cliffs Cadillac, and Smile Design Gallery. amfAR held its annual New York Gala last night to honor the Chairman of the Board of amfAR, designer Kenneth Cole, legendary performer and amfAR Ambassador Janet Jackson, and supermodel Heidi Klum, for their exceptional contributions to the global struggle against HIV/AIDS. The black tie benefit was held at Cipriani Wall Street, and featured a special performance by Grammy-winning recording artist CeeLo Green.
The Gala was also the official launch to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, marking the start of the Fall 2013 Collections at Lincoln Center, February 7-14. Mayor Michael Bloomberg was on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony to kick things off.
Mr. Cole’s contributions to amfAR and the fight against AIDS are innumerable. He has served on amfAR’s Board of Trustees for more than 25 years, becoming chairman in 2004. Mr. Cole was one of the first public figures to speak out about the issue of AIDS, and through his company, Kenneth Cole Productions, he has created powerful public awareness campaigns to combat HIV-related stigma and complacency about the AIDS epidemic.
Janet Jackson has been involved with amfAR for the past 15 years. In 1997 she donated all the proceeds of her hit single “Together Again” to the Foundation, and as an amfAR Ambassador, she has chaired many of amfAR’s most important benefit events, using her visibility as a musical icon to help improve the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS around the globe.
