A large and complicated rescue operation is underway in Houston as floodwaters continue to rise, fed by unrelenting rain.
So far, there’s no end in sight.
Tropical Storm Harvey is expected to produce 7 to 13 more inches of rain through Friday over the upper Texas coast, where some areas — including the Houston metropolitan area — may see accumulations of up to 50 inches.

Halle Berry, Cast And Creators Of “The Call” Join 9-1-1 Professionals To Launch National ‘Friends of 9-1-1’ Campaign
NENA – The 9-1-1 Association on Wednesday kicked off the NENA Foundation’s “Friends of 9-1-1” fundraising campaign with a special screening of the new film The Call and an in-person appearance by the film’s star, Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry.
Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, founder of Yunus Social Business, Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Unite, and U.S. President Bill Clinton, founder of the Clinton Foundation, announced last Sunday the launch of a new social initiative called Haiti Forest. The partnership aims to solve social and environmental problems in Haiti by bringing sustainable, productive and socially responsible forests to the country.
Ten thousand hectares of land are being promised by the Ministries of Agriculture and Environment to develop the new, bold Haiti Forest Initiative in the Artibonite and northern part of the country. Haiti Forest has full support of the Government of Haiti and is in line with the priorities of the Government to support long-term reconstruction efforts, especially those that create jobs and promoting economic opportunities. The multi-year project will provide affordable food, timber, and employment in Haiti, and will be organized as a Social Business – a company set-up for maximizing social benefit rather than private profit. Taste makers, movers and shakers came out in full force to support Fabrice Armand’s 3rd Annual Haiti Cherie. The event was held at the beautiful Broad Street Ballroom in the Wall Street area of Manhattan. The crowd of what looked to be three or 400 people enjoyed a great program led by former WNBC New York Anchor and current Atlanta Anchor DeMarco Morgan while sipping on signature Hennessy sponsored cocktails. Honorees included, Circuit Court Judge, Honorable Judge Lionel Jean Baptiste, CEO of Monami Entertainment Mona Scott-Young, Founder of Rodney Leon Architects Rodney Leon.

On Saturday, January 12th, the stars came out in full force to support the 2nd Annual Sean Penn and Friends Help Haiti Home event at the Montage Beverly Hills Hotel. The event, presented by Giorgio Armani and hosted by Anderson Cooper, brought out Hollywood royalty. Among them, the eternally handsome Richard Gere, Julia Roberts, Django’s Leonardo DiCaprio, Skyfall’s Daniel Craig and Reese Witherspoon – just to name a few. The A-List crowd raised $4 million to benefit J/P Haitian Relief Organization. The live auction included big ticket items like a day with Bill Clinton won by Leonardo DiCaprio and an Armani runway show scooped up by Reese Witherspoon –at six figures each.
