Raises $165,000 for FACE Africa’s WASH Programs in Sub-Saharan Africa
FACE Africa hosted its 7th Annual WASH, (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Gala on Saturday March 26, 2016 at NeueHouse Madison Square in New York City. The Gala took place on the heels of World Water Day, (March 22nd) and aimed to bring awareness to the growing clean water epidemic in Sub-Saharan Africa. 700 million people globally lack access to safe water supply sources, with 300 million people in Africa alone affected everyday.

Saran Kaba Jones is ensuring that water flows in her native country of Liberia
When Saran Kaba Jones returned to her native Liberia in 2008, after spending nearly two decades abroad as an ambassador’s daughter, she was unprepared for the mayhem wreaked by years of civil war. “I had seen it on TV, but seeing kids on the street, selling snacks to support their families instead of going to school, that made it real,” she says. A 26-year-old investor with the Singapore Economic Development Board at the time, Kaba Jones thought she could spend a month in country, launch an educational scholarship fund and leave knowing she had done something for a nation that had nurtured her until she was 7. FACE Africa Annual Clean Water Gala Raises $75k to Build 15-20 Water Systems in Liberia (EVENT PICS)
FACE Africa, the clean water non-profit founded by Liberian-born Saran Kaba Jones held its 4th Annual Benefit Gala at Espace on Saturday, March 23rd. The event attracted close to 350 guests and raised $73,000, enough to build 15 – 20 clean water systems in RiverCess County, one of Liberia’s most marginalized and under-served counties.
The 3-hour event included a cocktail reception, premium hosted bar and an art auction with pieces donated by Aroza Arts. Among the guests attending to support the clean water benefit were supermodel Oluchi Orlandi, actor Gbenga Akinnagbe, former Miss World Agbani Darego, and Ms. Lisa Lovatt-Smith, FACE Africa’s 2012 Honoree and founder of OrphanAid Africa.
The 4th Annual Clean Water Gala Supporting Clean Water Projects in Liberia will be on Saturday, March 23rd at Espace New York. The event boasts a decorated host committee including retired NBA all-star and four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Dikembe Mutombo.
