Last night, all hailed Prince at Carnegie Hall! WOW!!! Prince is a music icon who’s revered among the music community and sightings of him by us mere mortals are rare.
Michael Dorf, the owner of City Winery has been producing all-star tribute concerts for the past eight years to raise money in support of music education programs in New York City Public Schools when, due to budget cuts, these programs are the first to go. More than a twenty (20) artists paid tribute to the purple one in this concert to benefit music programs for under-privileged youth all over NYC. The event raised more than $100,000.
Prince is one of the most prolific songwriters in my collection, and he makes my Top 10 when I think about the artists who have truly shaped modern music,” Mr. Dorf said in a statement.
